Tories bluff on crime and bluff on causes of crime

ED MILIBAND writes for The Sun today for the first time as Labour leader - launching a stinging attack on David Cameron's Government.

Slamming the PM over broken election promises, he warns ministers are putting saving cash ahead of people's safety and are now out of touch with the public.
I HAVE a simple test on law and order for David Cameron - are his policies making our communities safer?

When I became Labour leader I promised to put party politics to one side and support the Government when they did the right thing.

But the more I see what David Cameron and Ken Clarke are doing, the more I think they are leading a Government who have lost their way on crime.

Before the election Mr Cameron made promise after promise to get elected.

He promised to protect frontline services but now we find he is cutting 10,000 police officers.

He promised a prison sentence for anyone caught in possession of a knife and then broke his word.

He promised there would be "honesty in sentencing".

But he broke that promise too.
