Fathers Inside (FI) Coordinator – Maternity Cover

The Programmes Team is looking for a dynamic individual to coordinate the Fathers Inside programme at Safe Ground.
£26,000 per annum, fixed term contract from January 4th until 20th July 2012 (this is maternity cover and may be extended)
Safe Ground is an established voluntary sector organisation that uses the arts to reduce re-offending; working inside and outside prison to support stronger relationships and communities. We were commissioned by the Prison Service in 1999 to develop the unique parenting and family relationship programmes Family Man (FM) and Fathers Inside (FI). We now manage their delivery across a network of 20 prisons in England and Wales. This management includes:
  • Supporting prisons who deliver FM and FI
  • Organising and facilitating training for programme tutors
  • Liaising with senior management teams to ensure high quality delivery.
Department for Education funding has enabled Safe Ground to expand our Programmes Team to include a dedicated coordinator for each programme. They will be responsible for overseeing the integrity of FM and FI in approximately 10 prisons each. The FI Coordinator will also have additional responsibilities and will support the revisions to the FI programme and will contribute to the overall development of the parenting programme.
The successful candidate will:
  • share a commitment to Safe Ground’s mission statement
  • be dynamic, proactive and have a ‘can do’ attitude as this role will involve promoting high quality programme delivery in challenging environments
  • have experience of working in or with prisons
  • have experience of building relationships and projects, networking and coordinating complex partnerships
  • have an ability to facilitate arts based or interactive training in a prison or community setting.
