Criminal Justice Social Work and Community Service teams across Scotland are responsible for ensuring offenders complete all aspects of their community sentence imposed by the Courts.
The punishment could include carrying out hours of unpaid manual work in the community, supervision, alcohol, drug or behavioural interventions.
Some of the unpaid manual work being carried out by offenders across Scotland include:
Clearing pathways of snow or ice
Building eco-plant areas for school children
Repainting community centres or churches
Cleaning beaches
Growing vegetables and distributing the produce to care homes and local charities.
Unpaid manual work is a punishment for the offender and benefit to the community.
